Every car is its own record
- VIN or chassis number, make, model, year, condition and cost.
- A stock # generator with your own numbering. A stock # can never collide with a SKU.
Where it is, and whether it can be sold
- Where it is: On order, In transit (with ETA and B/L), In lot, In shop.
- Whether it can be sold: Available, Reserved, Sold, Delivered.
True landed cost
- Put cars on purchase orders; mark them shipped and arrived.
- Freight and customs are spread across the cars by value.
- Cost comes from the vendor bill, and is accrued if the car sells first.
Selling
- Hold a car on an estimate; take and apply deposits.
- Sell while the car is still on the water.
- “Sell” creates an invoice that posts vehicle sales and cost of sales.
- Payment plans: a deposit plus installments (Mobius doesn't calculate interest).
- Delivery checklist; unwind a sale. A void or refund restocks the car.
- At the register, Mobius asks “part or vehicle?” so a car is never rung up as a part.
